Double-Hung

Double-hung windows are the traditional, classic style; both sashes can be raised and lowered for optimum ventilation, and both tilt in for easy cleaning. Why you should consider
Double-Hung Vinyl Windows:

  • The classic window style that custom homebuyers prefer.
  • Beveled exterior edges and true sloped sill create the traditional look of handcrafted windows; equal lites, unobtrusive tilt latches and color-matched hardware keep inside view clear; CertaLite™ interior grids can create the classic look of true divided lites.
  • Both sashes operate for optimum ventilation; both tilt in for easy cleaning.
  • 7/8" double-pane insulating glass unit with low-conductance spacer; optional Thermaflect Low "E" glazing system delivers the best U-value in its class.
  • 3/4" constant-force stainless steel balance is trouble-free for decades; significantly outperforms spiral and block and tackle systems.

These traditional windows can be combined with geometrics to add a touch of elegance to a formal room.

Single-Hung
Single-hung windows have one operating sash; the lower sash can be raised and lowered for ventilation and can be tilted in for easy cleaning. This is the most economical operable window. Why you should consider
Single-Hung Vinyl Windows:

  • Give homes traditional styling with economical single-hung windows.
  • An unobtrusive molded-in lift rail and color-matched hardware give these windows trim, clean lines.
  • Lower sash tilts in to make cleaning simple and safe from indoors.
  • Enjoy superior thermal performance with honeycomb frames and sashes, 5/8" double-pane insulating glass unit and low-conductance spacer.
  • A 3/4" constant-force stainless steel balance system tested for decades of trouble-free operation.
  • Larger sizes can be used as sheet rock windows during construction.

Single-hung windows are an economical way to create the traditional look of hung windows.

Fixed

Fixed windows provide the most viewing area. Because there are no operating sashes, no ventilation is possible. Why you should consider
Fixed Vinyl Windows:

  • This is an easy, cost-effective way to fill a room with light and get a big, unobstructed view.
  • Slim, clean lines and beveled exterior edges give the look of traditional craftsmanship.
  • Superior thermal performance is achieved with honeycomb frames and sashes, 5/8" double-pane insulating glass unit and low-conductance spacer.
  • For the best U- and R-value in its class, choose CertainTeed's Thermaflect® high-performance Low "E" glazing system.
  • Create the look of true divided lites with CertaLite™ interior grids, or choose grids between the glass for easy cleaning.

Create stunning window walls by combining fixed windows with single- or double-hungs and geometrics.

Transom

Transoms are a type of fixed window used higher on a wall, usually above an operating sash window. Why you should consider Transom
Vinyl Windows:

  • To enhance other window styles, or use alone for a splash of light in a special place.
  • For extra convenience, transoms can be mulled to other styles; they're available in standard sizes to match common widths or in custom sizes.
  • Enjoy the look of traditional craftsmanship with slim, clean lines and beveled exterior edges.
  • Create the look of true divided lites with CertaLite™ removable interior grids, or choose grids between the glass for easy cleaning.

Transom windows enable you to create taller viewing spaces and add more light.

Glider

A glider has one or two operable sashes that slide from side to side for ventilation. Operating sashes may be removed for easy cleaning from the inside. Why you should consider Glider
Vinyl Windows:

  • A glider window is great when space is at a premium, or as a pass-through -- as between a kitchen and patio.
  • Both sash orientations are available. As viewed from the outside, XO is standard; OX is available as a special order.
  • A 3-Lite end-vent glider is also available with one main frame -- no mulling required; fixed window constitutes 50% of the unit with operable sashes at 25% each.
  • Operable sash lifts out for easy and safe cleaning from the inside.
  • Superior thermal performance is achieved with honeycomb frames and sashes, 5/8" double-pane insulating glass unit and low-conductance spacer.
  • CertainTeed's exclusive cam-type lock and keeper add security and create a watertight seal.
  • Used in a bathroom or kitchen, a pair of gliders can offer a view and ventilation.

Special CertainTeed-designed glide pads or rollers allow for easy, fingertip operation and years of trouble-free use.

Casement

Casement windows open like doors, with a hand crank swinging the window open to the desired angle. These windows usually open to 90 degrees to allow easy cleaning from the inside. Why you should consider Casement
Vinyl Windows:

  • You can bring the outdoors in with large viewing areas and excellent ventilation.
  • There's plenty of variety with casements, twin casements and casement/fixed/casement combinations all in one main frame for easy installation.
  • Casement sash opens 90 degrees. Easy operation and a tight seal are ensured by dual compression seals and multi-point lock.
  • The high-quality hardware has E-Gard coating for corrosion protection.
  • Operator functions without disturbing the screen.
  • In casement/fixed/casement combination, each unit represents one-third of total combination window.

Casement windows offer trim lines and a wide viewing area with maximum ventilation.

Awning

Awnings are an operable window with a sash that tilts out and up, using a crank like a casement. These windows are often used to add ventilation above or below other large windows. Why you should consider Awning
Vinyl Windows:

  • You can bring the outdoors in with large viewing areas and excellent ventilation.
  • Easy operation and a tight seal are ensured by dual compression seals and multi-point lock.
  • Awning windows open out and upward from the bottom for maximum ventilation. Dual operator arms and locks pull sash firmly closed. Dual compression seals ensure a tight seal.
  • High-quality hardware has E-Gard coating for corrosion protection.
  • Operator functions without disturbing the screen.

The slim lines of an awning ensure you receive more viewing area.

10-Degree Bow

Bow windows are a series of windows that are combined to jut beyond the wall. A 10-degree bow is built with the windows on each end facing outwards at 10 degrees. Both operable and fixed casements may be included in a bow. Why you should consider 10-degree Bow
Vinyl Windows:

  • Comes completely assembled and ready to install.
  • Vinyl-backed insulated headboard and seatboard retards moisture and enhances insulation value; birch interior can be stained or painted to match decor.
  • Casement and casement/fixed units available.

Expand an interior space with a distinctive bow.

45-Degree and 30-Degree Bay

Bay windows jut further from the wall than bow windows. The windows on the end may be set at 45 or 30 degrees to the wall. Fixed, double-hung, single-hung or casements can be combined to create a bay window. Why you should consider 45-degree & 35-Degree Bay
Vinyl Windows:

  • Comes completely assembled and ready to install.
  • Vinyl-backed insulated headboard and seatboard retards moisture and enhances insulation value; birch interior can be stained or painted to match decor.
  • Single-hung, double-hung, casement and fixed units may be used.

Bay windows add a sense of space and graciousness to any room.

Extended Arch

This traditional architectural window shape can be made with an operating sash to allow ventilation. Though attractive and functional, extended arches are uncommon in today's market.

The operable extended arch window gives you the freedom to use a geometric-shape window throughout a room or a home, without sacrificing the potential for ventilation.

Eyebrow

  • Eyebrow windows let you add interest to an entrance or showcase a room.
  • Eyebrows accentuate other structural elements of your home, including garages and other windows.
